EQUINE INDUSTRY WEEKEND AT PRAIRIELAND PARK

SASKATOON, Saskatchewan – Horse lovers from across Canada will gather in Saskatoon for the annual Saskatchewan Equine Expo February 12-14 at Saskatoon Prairieland Park. This three day expo will include educational seminars, demonstrations, competitions, a trade-show and the very entertaining, Equine Extravaganza on Friday and Saturday evenings.

“The very popular Trainer Challenge is the crowd favorite, but we are very excited about the return of the Battle of the Breeds and an outstanding line up of weekend events featuring Cowboy Dressage specialist Lyn Ringrose Moe from California;  Saskatchewan’s own Hunter/Jumper expert Connie Dorsch and world renowned horseman Jonathan Field from Abbotsford BC. We are hoping for good weather and given the popularity of the event expect excellent crowds again this year”,   says Agriculture Manager, Lori Cates of Prairieland Park.Friday and Saturday evenings the Equine Extravaganza will feature Battle of the Breeds competitions, a Musical Freestyle Cowboy Dressage Demonstration, Jumping demonstrations and the thrilling Flying C’s Trick Riding demonstration. A separate admission is required for these evening performances.  In addition there will be a professional live video feed to a giant screen in the Trade Centre will allow patrons to watch all the action in comfort.

Three trainers will compete in the very popular Trainer Challenge.  A change to the format this year will allow participants an additional 1 hour with their chosen horses.  The horse selection will be on Thursday at 4:30pm, followed by a one hour training session.  The Thursday evening performance is free.  “We are very pleased to have three outstanding young trainers this year”, stated Cates.  Seth Abrahamson from Broderick, SK; Slade Mutton, from Bienfait, SK; and Kateri Cowley, our first female competitor, from Okotokos, AB.

This year 90 companies will participate in the trade show that offers something for everyone that has an interest in western lifestyles, art, and anything “horse related”.  Vendors from across Canada will make their way to Saskatoon for this unique equine event.
The Western College of Veterinary Medicine will facilitate live demonstrations and information sessions on current horse health topics throughout the weekend.

A new feature being presented by The Saskatchewan Horse Federation in conjunction with the WCVM, will focus on educational activities that will complement the arena events of the 2016 Equine Expo. These activities will be directed to youth, however there will be something for everyone. Whether you are a beginner horse owner, a want-to-be owner, or an already converted horse enthusiast, the educational booth will have something that is sure to be of interest.

The 2016 Western Canadian Crop Production Show Records Record Attendance!

SASKATOON, Saskatchewan – The 34th Annual Western Canadian Crop Production Show held January 11-14, 2016 is over and organizers are pleased to announce an all-time record attendance of 20,425.

“Monday’s attendance was outstanding and each day just got better and better.” stated Agriculture Manager, Lori Cates.

A total of 340 companies utilizing 1035 trade show booths showcased products and services to show attendees. This show has become Western Canada’s premier grain industry showcase by presenting information to producers on the latest technology, services, and products.

“The weather was great, and producers know they will be able to interact with industry experts at this show.  We want to extend a huge thank you to and our outstanding exhibitors and dedicated staff that contribute to our show’s success” says Cates.

2017 will see more changes for the Crop Production Show as we will be hosting CropSphere at Prairieland Park.  “We are excited to welcome participants from this event in 2017 and feel that having both events under one roof will definitely be appreciated by producers.” stated Brian Sim, Committee Chair.

The information gathered in Saskatoon this week formulates plans for the upcoming growing season for Western Canadian grain producers.

2016 WCCPS Day One

SASKATOON, Saskatchewan – Thousands of grain industry personnel are in Saskatoon this week for the Western Canadian Crop Production Show. Show doors open today at 12:00 p.m. at Saskatoon Prairieland Park’s Trade and Convention Centre.

The City of Saskatoon has proclaimed January 11-17, 2016 as Agriculture Business Awareness Week.

“The Western Canadian Crop Production Show brings thousands from the agriculture industry to Saskatoon, as exhibitors, producers, and supporting companies. We are proud to present this major event for the agriculture industry, and appreciate the support and recognition by the City of Saskatoon,” said Prairieland Park Chief Executive Officer Mark Regier.

GRAIN INDUSTRY MEETS IN SASKATOON at the WESTERN CANADIAN CROP PRODUCTION SHOW

SASKATOON, Saskatchewan – The City of Saskatoon has proclaimed January 10-17, 2016 as Agriculture Business Awareness Week and Prairieland Park will kick-off the week with Western Canada’s premier grain industry showcase – The Western Canadian Crop Production Show January 11-14 at Saskatoon Prairieland Park’s Trade and Convention Centre.  The Western Canadian Crop Production Show continues to connect industry leading manufacturers with decision-making producers.

For yet another year the trade show is sold out with a total of 340 companies in 1035 trade show booths plus 20 outdoor displays.  This year’s exhibitors include 18 U.S. companies.

“Crop Production Show continues to provide farmers with an event that has become a gathering place with global perspective and access to the latest technology and education.  The show’s success is due in part to the expertise offered by our exhibitors, our outstanding venue, and our commitment to preserve the integrity of the show which is focused specifically on crop production”,  said Prairieland Park Agriculture Manager, Lori Cates.

The 2016 programming continues with the Bayer CropScience Information Theatre in Hall B. Topics include “Succession Planning”, “Straight Combining Overview”, “Agricultural Water Management”, and “Understanding Plant Breeders Rights”.

This year’s feature is Precision Agriculture.  Speaker Craig Zawada, will provide attendees with information concerning Agronomic Data – Whose Information is it Anyway?  Speaker Aaron Ault will address the subject “When Can We Finally Stop Talking About Data and Get Back to Farming?” The afternoon presenter, Scott Noble, will discuss “Imaging in Agriculture: Potential and Pitfalls”, with the day concluding in a panel discussion entitled “From a Farmer’s Perspective”. The seminar will be held Wednesday, January 12 at 8:45 am. Pre-registration required.
