AG-EXperience for Students

Fulfilling its mandate toward education in the agricultural sector, Prairieland Park continues to be innovative in its presentation to both the urban and rural community.

Agriculture in the Classroom fulfils its mandate to connect kids and agriculture through innovative programs and resources for Saskatchewan students and educators.

Background

Prairieland Park’s school tour program was started in November 1990. During each of the four major agricultural shows through-out the year, students in grades 3 – 6 participated in a guided tour and presentations about agriculture. In 2007 Agriculture in the Classroom partnered up with Prairieland Park Corporation to help manage the School Tour Program.

In an effort to offer a more diversified and up-to-date program we have decided to modify the original format from half-day school tours during the four shows to one event designed specifically for students.

Students will be guided through stations covering a variety of agricultural topics. Hands-on, interactive sessions will be facilitated by industry personnel and volunteers and closely tied to the Saskatchewan curricula. Activities will be centered on livestock, crops, and the environment with specific topics yet to be determined. The AG-Experience interactive displays will also be a part of this educational event.
